Tried & Tasted: Muller Light Yoghurt & Cadbury Highlights Chocolate Mousse.

I'll start with the Muller Lights.
I thought I'd post about these, since they're currently on offer in Tesco (4 for £1). They come in a variety of flavours and are absolutely delicious; you wouldn't think they were low fat at all.
They're good to eat alone, or with fruit, you can even use them when making low fat/point desserts like couscous cake which I'll post the recipe for shortly.
The flavours I currently have in, along with their calories (per 200g pot) are:
Raspberry and Cranberry 100 Kcal
Banana and Custard 106 Kcal
Wild Blueberry 94 Kcal
Strawberry 102 Kcal
Mandarin 104 Kcal
Rhubarb 100 Kcal
Vanilla 100 Kcal
Toffee 100 Kcal
They all have 0.2g saturated fat in each 200g pot, which means that they work out at a tiny bit over 1.5 Weight Watchers Points for the 100+ calorie pots and a little under 1.5 points for the sub 100 calorie pots; so are just usually just recorded as 1.5 points.
Moving along to the Cadbury Highlights Chocolate Mousse, and I do believe that I have saved the best until last here as these are PERFECT for those, who like myself are on a diet but still love and crave chocolate.
I think they taste even better because they are relatively guilt free, containing just 60 kcals and 1.9g of fat (roughly 0.95g sat fat*) per 55gram pot which equates to a teeny tiny bit over 1 weight watchers point per pot; which of course is to be rounded down to 1 point.
These are also currently on offer at Tesco stores across the country; down from 96p per 4 pack, to 48p.. what a snip.
*My weight watchers leader told me to just divide normal fat content by 2 to give a rough estimate on how much saturated fat is in a product if it only shows the overall fat content.

Pasta Lovers.
For those of you, who like me love pasta and can get to an Asda; you might want to check out their fresh pasta range (many varieties of pasta, shown below) that is available in the chiller section in-store, as it has less calories/sat fat in it than usual dried pasta. See the nutritional information below for 2 of the different pastas.
Penne (100g) - 183Kcal and 0.4g Sat Fat (2.714 WW points per 100g)
Spaghetti (100g) - 148Kcal and 0.4g Sat Fat (2.214 WW points per 100g)
Compared to the Tescos 'Authentic Italian Penne' which has:
355Kcal and 0.3g Sat Fat, which is a massive 5.146 WW points per 100g.
It costs £1.08 for 500g.

For Those On Weight Watchers..
This is a simple way to work out points values of foods if you don't have a weight watchers calculator.
Get your calorie and saturated fat amount for the portion of food that you are having.
E.g 25 grams of crispy soy beans = 92Kcal and 0.3g Sat Fat.
Divide the calories by 70 and make a note of the number (or store it in your normal calculators memory) ready to add to your next total, which is found out by dividing your sat fat content by 4.
(Kcal) 1.3142857 (recurring) + (Sat Fat) 0.075 = 1.3892857 and this would generally be rounded up to 1.5 points for the portion you are going to eat.
This method is good for if you are in a supermarket and want to know if something is good, points wise but do not have an automatic weight watchers calculator.

An Introduction, If You Please.
I have been on and off diets for a few years now. The diet I have mainly followed (and know best) has been the Weight Watchers points diet, which really does work if you follow it correctly; but because I suffer with depression I find myself falling off the wagon more than I'd like to. I'm hoping that by writing this blog, I learn to stop falling off the wagon quite so much.
This blog is going to be dedicated to many aspects of weight loss (including recipes) and I hope to keep it updated as regularly as possible and with as much useful information as I can find.
I hope you find it interesting, but more importantly; I hope that it can provide you with some help. x
